Express Vending has always prided itself on being charitable and giving to good causes. This underpins one of our core values of ‘Fairness’ and is a key part of the culture that has made Express Vending such as successful business and a great place to work.
We have since partnered with a fantastic local charity called DENS. Their main role in the community is tackling homelessness and poverty in the Dacorum area and provide a number of services such as: temporary emergency accommodation; DENS Day Centre, advice and a daytime haven; DENS Move On, a deposit guarantee and support scheme with private landlords; DENS Dacorum Foodbank, emergency food supplies; and DENS Enterprises, creating income.
On Sunday 28th April DENS organised a cycling event starting in Gadebridge Park in Hemel Hempstead, quite apply named the ‘Hemel Hillbuster’! The event was a huge success with over 650 cyclists participating in the 100km bike ride around Hertfordshire!
An incredible £25,000 was raised and every penny will count towards helping people in Dacorum who are facing homelessness, poverty and social exclusion; to support and empower them to take the next positive step in their lives.
A comment from the first rider to cross the finish line:
“It was amazing scenery, everyone was super friendly and it was so well organised, the volunteers and staff were lovely and it’s an amazing charity to support”
Express were able to help support the event through providing 600 bananas, 1200 bottles of water, snacks and drinks and 1000 cups. We also had support from our fresh food supplier, Simply Lunch, who supplied us with sandwiches and Epicurium who donated lots of healthy snacks for the riders. A huge thank goes out to the people who volunteered their Sunday to help out – Lee Henderson, Joanna Gaffney, Georgia Pemberton, Yemisi Sofalarin, James Williams, Andrew Chapman, Wanda Turner and Chris Steenkamp.
