We are committed to investing in people and developing futures
We firmly believe that providing quality training and development builds a better business. We offer a number of programmes and opportunities to existing, and potential, employees and encourage career development.
We have an established and very successful Graduate Sales Programme that aims to encourage young people leaving university to join us. This programme has grown from strength to strength and in 2014/15 we were voted one of the top 100 companies for graduates to work for coming first in our sector, consumer goods, by The Job Crowd. We offer continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities to our staff and consider courses colleagues may wish to study. We also encourage staff to volunteer their time and allow paid time off to volunteer for not-for-profits and charitable causes.
'I joined the business in 2001 straight out of university. I saw the business as a great small entrepreneurial business with massive ambitions for growth. I wanted to be part of that, and to be instrumental in the growth. Looking back, we've doubled the size of the business and I've developed countless skills in both running and growing a business. I feel that the opportunities that we are able to offer young, ambitious grads through our dedicated training and development is truly unique and delivers to young people the opportunity to not only earn, but more importantly, to learn.'
Paul, Sales Director
'From the moment I read the content of the job spec’ on a graduate recruitment site, I got a feeling this was a business going somewhere. For me it didn’t matter about industry, it mattered it was a business with huge aspirations and plans long term, and that I could be part of the success. There are four tiers in our Graduate Programme, so every successful year you have with the business, you have the opportunity to be promoted to a more senior sales role. After five years I now sit on the Key Accounts Team, which I absolutely love.'
Emma, New Business Sales Executive
We also recruit ex-servicemen and women who have left the army and looking to start new careers. Express Vending recruit via ForceSelect, a specialist recruitment service that matches service leavers with employers. Since 2012, we have recruited seven people through ForceSelect and will continue to use this service.
'Leaving the Army and now working in the Operations Department of a vending company, I have seen how I can use and adapt the skills the Army has taught me and put them into practice in a completely different environment. For example, teamwork, discipline, leadership and problem solving. This has allowed me to achieve my goals, like promotion within the company.'
